There is $195 charge on late cancellations (less than 7 days prior to class) and no refunds are made on uncancelled registrations.

What is your cancellation policy for On-Site Crane Training courses?

On-Site Crane Training cancellations or rescheduling occurring less than 25 days prior to the course start date are subject to a charge of 25% of the total training cost plus airfare charges. Cancellations occurring less than 7 days from start of on-site course are subject to 80% of the training cost.

You list a three day Overhead Crane Inspection Course (Course No. 819) and a four day Overhead Crane Inspection Course (Course No. 818). What is the difference between these two crane inspection courses?

Both of our Inspection courses cover the same classroom crane training materials and utilize the same student workbook. The four day class is longer to allow for more hands-on training in our Lab. The hands-on training is interspersed throughout the 4 days. We can also provide a three or four day on-site crane inspector training at your location with hands-on available.

Is lunch included at your crane training courses in the Milwaukee area?

Our courses at the Konecranes Training Institute in New Berlin, WI include lunches, snacks, soda, water and coffee. We try to offer a variety of lunches from local caterers including a mixture of hot and cold items, sandwiches, salads and dessert. We regularly survey students on the food and accommodations and we utilize our best rated caterers.

We are considering an on-site crane training course. How many students do we need for this to make sense?

For most customers 4, 5 or 6 students is where they see a payback for On-Site Crane Training courses versus attending one of our regularly scheduled crane courses. Other factors to consider include scheduling; ability to provide hands-on training; safety; ability of your employees to travel.

We are considering either an on-site crane maintenance training for 8 students or sending 4 students to your Overhead Crane Mechanical Maintenance Course. Which is a better option?

Usually if you can train more people your return on investment will be better. On-Site crane training has advantages of a lower cost per student and the course can be tailored to the specific cranes and hoists at the facility. Our regularly scheduled courses will utilize our Lab equipment for the hands-on portion.

I just became responsible for my company's cranes. Which course(s) would you recommend for me?

Many of our customers find our Overhead Crane Inspection Course very helpful. This course covers the crane and hoist regulations from OSHA and ASME B30.2, as well as discusses how often cranes need to be inspected and maintained. This crane training gives a good perspective on the importance of your crane and hoist equipment.

Is Milwaukee hard to navigate during the winter?

Milwaukee rarely closes due to snow or ice. We hold classes everyday and have never cancelled a day here at the Institute due to weather. Students can take a shuttle between the airport & hotel and to the Institute each day thereby eliminating the need to drive or rent a car if snow is a concern.

Does each attendee receive a certificate of completion for the Crane Operator & Rigging Train-the-Trainer course?

Yes – each student receives a certificate of completion if they pass the written and practical exam, and demonstrate they can be an effective instructor. Students who pass are licensed to use our crane training materials for Operator Training for two years. After two years, we ask they retake the course or take a shorter refresher course to renew.

Does each student in the (Course No. 808T) Crane Operator & Rigging Train-The-Trainer course receive a packet of materials that they can use for training operators?

Yes, the Instructor kit includes the items listed on the attached. Also, if attending in Milwaukee or Los Angeles we include one student course kit which has 12 workbooks etc.

Are student photos used on new Overhead Crane Inspection cards?

Yes – a few years ago we implemented a new photo ID card for all new and refresher students. We take your picture during the course and provide the ID cards within 2 weeks after completion of the course and passing of the written test.

Can you provide P&H Static Stepless Crane Control training at our site?

Yes – we offer a 3 day classroom course at customers sites although many students like to come to our facility where we have controls for troubleshooting and set up practice.

Does OSHA require overhead crane operators to be certified?

Training of your crane operators is very important, and our study has shown proper training can reduce 70% of crane incidents. There is no such thing as OSHA certification of overhead crane operators so therefore the answer is no. OSHA does require overhead crane operators to be trained, evaluated and designated.

My Overhead Crane Inspection card you issued expired. Do I need to take the three day course (Course No. 819) or can I still take the one day overhead crane inspection training refresher (Course No. 820)?

We allow up to a 6 month grace period after your expiration. After this time, we require students to retake the 3 day course.

If I earn my Overhead Crane Inspection card - am I now fully qualified to provide crane inspections for our annuals at our facility?

You have taken a good step in that direction with this class and testing. We recommend that individuals who perform crane inspections ensure that they not only know the regulations including OSHA 1910.179; ASME B30.2 and CMAA #70, but also have hands-on experience doing crane inspections. Further, we do recommend that once a year every facility has an outside expert take a look at their critical cranes.
